Feeding plants to animals then eating the animals is like filtering water through the sewer then drinking it.– Bruce Friedrich (via ambertheveganvocalist)
REPRESENT!! XD <3
HIM: I took a health class at RCC. Two of them actually. And have thus determined being a Vegan is not healthy unless you love planning your diets to very strict limits (Or else you wont get said protein or other vitamins) Or I guess you could pump yourself full of supplements to make sure you don't become malnourished like so many super-hip vegans do. Which seems counter intuitive since they are the most unnatural source of the vitamins.
Calorie intake of vegans needs to be monitored carefully (Oh wait thats why so many vegans look unhealthily thin).
Vegan-ism is time consuming. Always checking ingredients or forking out the extra dough to have VEGAN plastered on the super recycled (So recycled that it pumps even more greenhouse gas into the atmosphere) packaging...
ME: Wait a second. I never said that being vegan wasn't time consuming. Which really, it only seems time consuming to people that are completely oblivious of/don't care enough to check on what they're putting into their bodies in the first place. (And is that a very healthy habit? No.) Just because it takes time to do something (like change your lifestyle) does that make it unhealthy? No. Unfortunately, veganism seems like such an extreme lifestyle simply because compared to what the norm is these days (like mowing down on fast food/junk food/candy/artificial bullshit without a single thought as to what is and isn't good for you) it is.
And yes, there are indeed vegans that take vitamin supplements to prevent malnourishment. But what’s the percentage of vegans compared to those that eat meat? Oh yeah, still small (but growing exponentially) which means all of these vitamin supplements that are pumped out of factories and fed to our population are also being taken by non-vegans to prevent malnourishment. Imagine that? I guess you don’t have to be a “super-hip” vegan to be malnourished. But of course there are also vegans that have a well-rounded diet and have no need to take supplements. Good for them.
And yes, being vegan you learn to graze throughout the day (for calorie intake). But that can be as much as eating fruits and veggies or rice or something between meals; not too complicated. Maybe some vegans are unhealthily thin; but that isn’t a quality limited to vegans, my friend. There are also vegan body-builders that can prove that they get what they need from a vegan diet (and yes, they get it without the use of drugs or supplements).
Hahah, good lord. Those green vegans and their pumping greenhouse gas into the atmosphere. You're right, they should totally knock that recycling shit off.
And I’m sorry to hear that your brother gave up. That’s unfortunate. He obviously wasn’t very serious about it. No, most vegans do not quit after a year. And no, most vegans do not have serious health complications because of their veganism. There are so many more vegans (and like I mentioned before, the number is growing) that have been raised vegans and are now raising there children vegans also, and they remain very healthy. But they take the time to care for themselves.
So yes, being vegan is very much the opposite of the “Lazy Diet”. It takes time. But I personally believe you should take time to care for yourself.
